Healthcare watchdog recognises improvements at Devon Doctors Group

Devon Doctors Group has been removed from special measures and seen its rating upgraded following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission [CQC].

Improvements to services provided by the organisation, which is responsible for NHS 111 and urgent out-of hours care in Devon and Somerset, were identified as part of an inspection carried out by the regulator at the end of last year.

Reflecting on the achievement, Devon Doctors Chief Executive Officer Dr Justin Geddes said: “It is difficult to convey the magnitude of what has been achieved over the last 18 months, given the unprecedented challenges faced by our organisation and the wider healthcare system amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Certainly, we could not have made the progress we have without the hard work, commitment, and dedication of our staff and clinicians and I would like to thank each and every one of them for the part they have played in this.

“We appreciate that we must continue to improve, but are pleased the CQC has recognised the progress we have already made. Moving forward, we are committed to providing sustainable, safe and high-quality services to our patients.”
